No. Power BI Desktop is free to download from the Microsoft Store and can be used without cost. You’ll only need a licence if you want to publish, share, or consume reports within your organisation.

Power BI Desktop only runs on Windows. Mac users have options:
Virtual Machine or Parallels – Install Windows on your Mac and run Power BI Desktop.
Remote Access – Some organisations provide access to a Windows environment where Power BI is installed.

Tip: Two monitors work best—one to follow the instructor and one to use Power BI. If joining from a meeting room, we recommend each participant still has their own laptop.
