FAQs

  • No. Power BI Desktop is free to download from the Microsoft Store and can be used without cost. You’ll only need a licence if you want to publish, share, or consume reports within your organisation.

  • Power BI Desktop only runs on Windows. Mac users have options:

    • Virtual Machine or Parallels – Install Windows on your Mac and run Power BI Desktop.

    • Remote Access – Some organisations provide access to a Windows environment where Power BI is installed.

  • Each participant will need:

    • A Windows computer

    • Power BI Desktop installed

    • Access to Microsoft Teams (or similar)

    • Training data files (provided by Flock)

    Tip: Two monitors work best—one to follow the instructor and one to use Power BI. If joining from a meeting room, we recommend each participant still has their own laptop.

  • Our training is designed for business users, analysts, and developers who want to create dashboards, automate reporting, and make better data-driven decisions.

    • Fundamentals Course – For beginners with no prior Power BI or analytics experience.

    • Advanced Courses – For those with a solid foundation who want to go deeper into modelling or visualisation.

  • No. We use realistic, fictitious datasets so participants stay focused on learning objectives instead of company-specific details. This makes the training more engaging, effective, and distraction-free.

  • Pricing is listed on this page under each of the training courses. Prices apply to virtual sessions only. In-person training across New Zealand can be quoted on request.

  • Not directly. While some content overlaps with Microsoft’s PL-300 certification, our focus is on practical, real-world Power BI skills you can apply immediately.
